People and animals share this earth. We believe that by living in a manner where our behavior and choices are considerate of the impact we have on animals, and as such treat animals with compassion and respect, both people and animals benefit.

A small group of people comprising of students, academic and non academic staff members and others who share a love towards animals with special reference to domesticated stray animals have formed a animal welfare society named ‘Divisarana’ with a view to look into the welfare of the animals. We are presently concentration on the animals inhabiting the premises of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The main aim of this Society is to inculcate a love towards animals and other beings in the hearts of the people so that they will be considered as fellow beings of the living planet who also needs a place to live and entitled to a good life filled with love and caring. This is the basis on which sustainable development should be built on.
